places of burma

here are some pics of places i’ve visited in burma. tomorrow, tune in for faces of burma, as part of the global transmission anything that rhymes with aces burma series.
there are over 3000 temples in bagan, covering a 40 sq km area. i visited 15 of them. here’s a view from one of the temples looking towards temples that keep going and going and going and.....

and then looking the other way towards sunset

the writing is on the wall. but i have no idea what it means.

fire

all teak wood temple

stripping down old u.s. army jeeps and building them up from scratch. all yours for $1500 usd’s

the temple at the top of mandalay hill

did a trek in the hills of kalaw. had lunch in a beautiful teak wood monastery. if you bring gifts, they serve you lunch. i was told to bring pens and shampoo. i understand the pen part, but the shampoo confused me since all the monks are bald. then again, religion sorta confuses me.

fishermen of inle lake, rowing with their footsies.

inle lake, where land meets water, huts built over the water. it’s myanmar’s version of venice

view from a hilltop temple looking out over inle lake

the golden chalice....no real reason for posting. i just like this foto for some reason.

i asked the buddha, ‘where do i go to achieve enlightenment?’

he replied, ‘quite simple, go over there, to where ever Dónde está Ché Pelotas? is’
